It's time to sort through your work and cherry-pick your favourite pieces to enter in the Guild of Motoring Writers Annual Awards. That's because this year, there are even more reasons than ever to enter. Changes include the introduction of a new award for business, industry and trade journalists, sponsored by Prova PR. Bentley Motors is stepping in to take on the sponsorship of the International Trophy from Aston Martin, while the Young Journalist of the Year, launched by Saab, will now be sponsored by headlineauto.co.ukWhat's more, Audi is taking over the sponsorship of the photography awards which return with two categories, motorsport and general.
Full details of all awards can be found on the entry form, being emailed to members
In another important development, the Driver and Rider of the Year awards are changing. From now on, these accolades will focus on up-and-coming, home-grown drivers and riders, recognising them as rising stars of British motorsport.
Finally, there's a great boost for our flagship prize, the Pierre Dreyfus trophy for the UK Journalist of the Year, sponsored since inception by Renault UK. It's getting even bigger and better! The addition to the prize fund of £500 by the Guild brings this award to a sizeable £3,000. It will now be known as the Renault UK Guild of Motoring Writers UK Journalist of the Year Award.
So the total prize fund sits are more than £20,000, plus there's a fine array of exquisite trophies on offer. Winners will receive their accolades during our annual festivity, the Dinner and Awards, held at the RAC in Pall Mall on 3 December.
Most, but not all, categories are open only to all types of fully paid-up Guild members. The deadline for entries is 30 September 2009. For full details of how to enter, and to download an entry form, visit the www.gomw.co.uk website.
